Cle Elum's Volunteer Fire Department

     The Cle Elum Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1903 and has always been an all-volunteer Fire department, which was created by it's residents.

In 2005 a new 8,600 sf Station was built at 2nd and Pennsylvania, so now the Department has two stations and 42 volunteers.

Cle Elum's Volunteer Fire Department is responsible for approximately 5 square miles of area in Kittitas County and receives a current call volume of 500 plus calls a year. 

FUN FACT 1: Cle Elum's population was at an all-time high in 1910, totaling 2,749 residents!
FUN FACT 2: Edwin Mills is the first ever full time Fire Chief in Cle Elum's Volunteer Fire Fighter's history!
FUN FACT 3: CEFD have an original fire hose cart from 1903! Originally three were purchased but only one is left in existence!
